Paying homage to the past, Anna Sui sticks to her signature bohemian, flower-child routine during her Spring/Summer 2018 show that took place at the Skylight Clarkson Square. Beginning with an incredibly intriguing introduction that included her whole cast, ages 6-42, walking the unlit runway in an almost haunting but also whimsical manner, the show then soon picked up the pace as GiGi Hadid opened up the show with Sui’s “Gathering of the Tribes Cape” and “Curtain of Stars Metallic Clipped Jacquard Caftan”.
It’s truly incredible to witness the historical context that Sui refers to throughout her collection as it consisted of many garments and ensembles that referred back to the 60s with the light fabrics, long hair, Erickson Beamon accesories and beatnik patterns. Sui embodies the concept of a playful yet sexy atmosphere and truly displays this thoroughly within her chosen cast. Her collection itself captures all attitudes of the spectrum: from dark and mysterious, to playful to extremely seductive. From her collection to the invitations that encouraged guests to bring “flowers, feathers,.... [and] Incenses”, Anna Sui once again flawlessly perpetuates the “Last Flower Child” aura.
