The soft light that leaked into the rooms of the gallery was complementary to the delicate and romantic tone that was the Bevza SS19 collection. Designed by the Ukrainian designer Svetlana Bevza, the collection was inspired by someone who is also delicate; her new baby girl.
The most obvious influence to Bevza came from the beach. The collection was a combination of soft pastels and monochromatic looks that created an elegant essence. Models wore muscle shaped earrings, while multiple silk dresses adorned the same detail. One of the most notable pieces was a top made entirely of pearls paired with high slit white linen skirt. Shell shaped busts created structure to satin bodysuits while black, white and nude headwraps and 1 ½ inch white thong 1.5 sandals were consistent.
The show opened with an ivory knitted drape with thigh-high slits that captured both 90’s minimalism and femininity . The drape was paired with transparent high-waisted biker shorts that became a pattern with other oversized trenches and tops that added a sophisticated twist to the trend. The show transitioned from monochromatic white ensembles to a stunning colorblock period of lilac, pink, yellow and cream. A pink draped knitted dress was a focus piece during this transition. The softnessess of the color selection truly captured the spirit of the inspirer.
Bevza ss19 collection was equally charming as it was graceful. Floating down an all white runway, the models in natural makeup and hair emphasized minimalism and simplified beauty that was an added compliment to Svetlana’s designs.
