Fini Shoe’s pop-up event was tucked into a brilliantly lit space right on Bowery and Delancey. Walking into the event, the energy is light and fun with a dj spinning lively beats and the event endorsed by Bakana Sangria.
Mannequins align the room dressed in mellow streetwear in order to not take too much attention off the focus of the store: the shoes. Fini, launched a year ago by Dami Adepoju, is on the brink of making a new wave in the fashion industry. A first generation American designer hailing from Nigeria, Dami’s focus in his designs are both sustainability and versatility.
Dami’s uniqueness as a designer comes from his minimalistic zipper system that allows the van like base silhouette turn into 6 different looks through attachables. These looks range from a flat sneaker to a laced up boot, to a fur trimmed shoe. Dami’s new collection branches out from his trademark colors; “snow, panther, and bread” to a prime colors color block, camo and hunter green. The shoe collection is complimented by coordinating fanny packs meant to hold the various attachments for an on-demand change. The overall mantra for this brand is allowing one shoe to adapt to the needs of multiple occasions.
Dami’s talent as designer is showcased in his customizable system, while his integrity is emphasized in his commitment to donate 10% of the proceeds of the event to No Bully; a non-profit engaged in leveraging student’s empathy.
