Desiree Delia is one of the few faces that brings an inevitable livelihood to any arena. Though her personal character is enough for anyone to feel the weird, warm and fuzzy feeling in their chest, the international make-up artist adds to her prestige with the announcement of her upcoming book tour.
Setting sail in March, Desiree Delia is scheduled to discuss her latest project in London, Germany, Shanghai, Mexico, New York and LA at the LA Times’ festival of books.
This project? A coloring book designed for aspiring make-up artists, make-up enthusiasts and overall, creative people.
“You’re not just coloring. It’s about expanding your mind,” explains Delia.
“Create Your Own Make Up Image” By Desiree Delia is comprised of a series of blank, face templates designed and owned by Getty-images. The purpose of the book is to allow consumers practice techniques and plan certain looks without the need of using make-up products and models, ultimately, saving time and money.
“I’ve been wanting to do a coloring book for five years,” says Delia. A project like this has always been on her mind since the beginning of her career but, in her own words, “life gets in the way sometimes.”
Though a coloring book sounds extremely simplistic, the project holds many versatile uses. Cosmetology schools across the world and professors can obviously use the tool for their students. “Create Your Own Make Up Image” would allow students to draft ideas and practice on the templates during the initial processes of a particular project.
On the professional side of the industry, the book is also useful to established make-up artists as they are able to easily create portfolios or present ideas when working with a client. Having the book accessible to them allows professionals to draft initial images before they are actually executed and are able to easily change their plans if needed.
And on a more just-for-fun basis, if you’re not necessarily interested in a career of make-up, the coloring book also serves as a simple way to de-stress.
The list goes on, but the overall theme of the project remains the same: It’s useful. It’s unique.
As Delia goes on her international tour to spread news of her latest book and meet with other make-up enthusiasts, both professional and aspiring, those who are interested are able to purchase a copy on several mediums including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
