The R13 SS19 show stayed true to their roots as the American-inspired “cool kid” energy stole the room. Mixed florals and animal prints layered with harsh thick leathers created a contrast between luxury and bad-boy energy. The models marched with a purpose, as the brightly lit and energy-filled atmosphere perfectly replicated the vibe of the show.
Paying ode to the American wild wild west, R13 incorporated fringe--and a lot of it--into a lot of their denim and suede ensembles. Decorated with buckles and crochet details, the laid-back R13 girl was truly defined. There was also no boundaries when it came to patterns as R13 took to add both soft and pastel florals, as well as a dramatized hawaiian print, and added in leopard print with pops of red.
The denim addition to the show was most exciting as the conventional fit and silhouettes of denim were directly rebelled against. R13 showcased a cropped straight-leg, light-washed jean with a darker washed, distressed mini skirt layered over it. This was paired with a chunky belt, loose cropped blouse and an oversized denim jacket. This look took a basic summer classic and made it compelling and intriguing...something that R13 does very well.
Lastly, the incorporation of the 70’s classic tie-dye made the show even more fun and playful. An interesting spin on the chic fitted blazer, R13 dressed model Kaia Gerber in a show-stopping tie-dye blazer paired with a casual distressed denim short.
This carefree, youthful, americana show showcased all that R13 is. This collection took a twist on many classics, honing in on R13’s unconventional signature of rebellious fashion.
